More black and white Volunteers!

Popped over to a dear old friends the other day. We had a great catch up, and most importantly ( well, not quite as important as good coffee and lamingtons.. ) I was able to add her children ( in the previous posts ) and parents to my list of intense Black and White portrait victims!

And a couple of a super cute little boy!

Simply sweet...

Something shone,
it glistened and gleamed...
I spied your smile, your heart within...
How lucky am I,  to see you both,
beneath the skin...

Wet Plate in a Modern Era

There is so much about photography today that is quick, sharp, snappy and truly wonderful.  We get to see how the photo looks, instantly, and enjoy the images in full colour, without any messy steps in the dark room, with fumes and chemicals and all the paraphernalia that comes with it.

But, somewhere, along the line, there is something I feel, deep inside my self, with each and every 1800's wet plate, or tintype or ambrotype etc image that I look at. It's like looking into the soul. I have been doing a great deal of playing around, lately. With creating textures that fit the " ambrotype" bill, and editing.
This is probably the first of many attempts to replicate the style.

My boy.

In those eyes a dream, a sigh and a whisper
of hope, of innocence and youth.
Immortal and old, and ever sweet and new.
